Stephen Palmer appointed as adjunct Professor of Coaching Psychology

The award-winning psychologist Professor Stephen Palmer has been affiliated with Aalborg University as an adjunct professor from January 1st 2016.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Stephen Palmer has been appointed adjunct Professor to the Department of Communication and Psychology, Aalborg University’s Coaching Psychology Research Unit, and the Master level psychology programme. Professor Palmer will contribute to the teaching and research in coaching psychology and psychotherapy.

The Director of the Clinic Counselling and Consultation Coaching programme, Dr Ole Michael Spaten declares:

- The boundaries between psychotherapy and coaching psychology are an area of great interest for many psychologists and psychology students. We are very happy that this area of teaching and research in the Department will now benefit from Professor Stephen Palmer’s wide-ranging experience.

Professor Stephen Palmer says:

- I’m delighted to become an Adjunct Professor of Coaching Psychology at Aalborg University. This post will enable me to work more closely with the university’s prestigious Coaching Psychology Research Unit where we will collaborate on research and publications. Also I am looking forward to teaching the students.

In the autumn – on Friday, September 16th – a conference on psychotherapy and coaching psychology will be organised. On this occasion Professor Stephen Palmer will give his inaugural lecture under this conference heading:

Psychotherapy, coaching psychology, and coaching: How are the boundaries, margins, and crossroads framed by practitioners and scholars in the scientific community today?

About Professor Stephen Palmer

Professor Stephen Palmer, PhD, is a chartered psychologist, scientist, and biologist and an accredited executive coach and coach Supervisor. He is the founding director of the International Academy for Professional Development and also the Coaching Psychology Unit at the City University London, UK.

Palmer has written over 225 articles and authored or edited 47 books including the Handbook of Coaching Psychology (with Alison Whybrow, Routledge, 2007) and the Handbook of Counselling (with McMahon, Routledge, 1997). He edits a number of book series including Coaching Psychology (Routledge), Essential Coaching Skills and Knowledge Series (Routledge), and Brief Therapies (Sage). He is Co-Editor of the International Coaching Psychology Review, founding Executive Editor of Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice.
